The CO and Adjutant attend Beating Retreat at Kineton Army Munitions Station.
On Tuesday the 27th July 2010 Flight Lieutenant Moreton CO of 2028 Squadron accompanied by C.I. Conran-Brown were invited to watch the ceremony of Beating Retreat at Kineton Army Munitions Station.
The invitation was made as part of continuing closer links being forged between the Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Maber-Jones and the CO of 2028 Squadron.
The CO and CI Conran Brown joined the Colonel, various local Mayors and dignitaries in the Officer’s mess for light refreshments. The Colonel showed a video before giving a short talk to the assembled members. Part of his talk involved him reading some citations of remarkable work and bravery by individual members of the Bomb Disposal teams being trained at Kineton. One in particular was extraordinary, the Officer was in fact in the mess at the time although the Colonel did not name him. Everyone then moved across to the square to watch the ceremony.
Beating Retreat was performed by the Band of the Royal Logistics Corps, after which sunset was played and the final salute taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Mr Martin Dunne. It was a great evening made all the more poignant by the citations read out by the Station Commander.
Flight Lieutenant Moreton CO of 2028 Squadron commented, “There is a strong family influence within the Station at Kineton. The Depot has some great facilities and bearing in mind that the Navy, Army and Royal Air Force all have personnel at the Station there are real opportunities for us to recruit.”
