2028 (Southam) Squadron

Royal Air Force Air Cadets

Activities

When you join the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (ATC) you get the opportunity to do lots of activities that you would never normally take part in, some quite challenging but all conducted in a safe environment with trained Instructors and Staff to look after you.

These include, amongst others, gliding, flying, shooting, radio training and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. All Cadets are encouraged to become involved in service to the Community while they are a Cadet. We also offer you the opportunity to gain 2 levels of a BTEC and NVQ whilst you are a member of the RAFAC, helping you with your future employment.

You will also get the opportunity to visit RAF Stations, go on Easter, Autumn and Annual Camps and take part in Adventure training weekends. There are also regular opportunities to visit RAF Stations abroad.

The Air Cadets offer a wide range of sporting opportunities for those who are keen on Football, Hockey, Rugby, Netball, together with swimming, athletics, cross country and many more.

Locally 2028 Squadron is involved in the Annual British Legion Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Sunday Parade in Southam. We also look after the Holy Well a local Heritage Site on behalf of the Town Council and much much more.

Every opportunity we can find within the Training Programme, we go out on Social activities together, allowing the Cadets and Staff to have fun and relax out of uniform. These can be as varied as Ten-Pin Bowling to visiting Air Museums and Kayaking!
